Detail

Train the Trainer is a two day couse designed to help support workers gain the skills and confidence necessary to deliver tenancy training to their clients.

In contrast to other training providers IYM doesn’t tell you what your clients need to know, instead we empower your staff to develop a range of resources which they know will interest and be of benefit to the people they work with.

Our experience is that giving staff the courses they are to deliver often sees them left on the shelf. Teaching housing related support staff to deliver training makes the experience more sustainable and gives clients positive learning role models.

By the end of the two days training support workers will be able to:

• Understand the role of the trainer in facilitating learning

• Identify and develop resources which support different learning styles

• Know how to plan, design and deliver their own sessions

• Understand the motivation behind challenging or disruptive behaviour and discuss how to deal with it

• Understand the value of a facilitative approach to learning.

Train the Trainer can be run as an accredited Level 3 OCN qualification (IYM: Train the Trainer). Click here to find out more about Accredited Courses.

“The training workshops brought out skills that I didn’t know I had and it led me into an area of work that I had never considered…I went on to study a City and Guilds training qualification which I passed… my confidence in terms of speaking to an audience has rocketed”

Jacqui Harrison, support worker, London Borough of Lambeth
