Detail

Quality Audit Skills is a four day course designed help organisations develop an internal quality audit skills programme in line with the National Supporting People Programme.

Over last four years Broadway Homelessness & Support has pioneered a strategic and targeted approach to reviewing and improving the quality of its services by training its staff to regularly review services across the organisation.

We have found that this improves staff understanding of the Supporting People quality assessment framework and has seen us achieve our fist 6 A grade rated service in 2009.

The course is broken down into two days of classroom based work; one day spent evaluating a peers service and a half day feeding back on the process.

By the end of the first two days training, support workers will:

•Know what a Supporting People [SP] auditor will look for when auditing a supporting housing service

•Understand the underlying rationale and systems needed to ensure continuous service improvement

•Know how to identify and specify areas for improvement. Learners will be able to:

•Clarify, with examples, the difference between levels in the Quality Assessment Framework

•Develop a plan to prepare a supported housing service for audit and review

•Prepare written reports explaining explain how a supported housing service has/has not met the required standards

All of the audits carried out under the third day of the course will be supervised by It's Your Move and materials made available to help structure interviews, poll clients and check paperwork. The auditting proceedure can be modified to compliment any internal quality systems you also operate at the moment.

This course is offered as an accredited Level 3 OCN qualification in “Audit Skills in the supported housing sector”

“It helped me appreciate the importance of evidence gathering and the clarity of presentation necessary when working with SP. Even though it can sometimes be percieved as time consuming and getting in the way of day to day work it is important"

Antonius Meliat, Service Manager, ECHG
